Approaching projects from a practical point of view is paramount. We work with you to understand what the purpose of the space is, who will be using it and how often it will be used. This way our choices of fabrics and furniture will be fit for function as well as fabulous. Design that looks great but doesn’t work is bad design. It has to look perfect as as well as work perfectly.

The colour scheme is the first and most important choice when designing any space. It will determine the feel as well as the look of the room. Colour can create grandeur, cosiness, warmth, formality, homeliness, or indeed a contemporary or a traditional feel. The choice of fabrics is enormous and exciting. Our experience will help you find the perfect match for your mood. We can have a lot of fun with fabric!

Finishing touches such as a rug or a cushion can really pull a project together . In fact often such items are excellent starting points for inspiration on colour, patterns and style. How we dress the hard and soft furniture is as individual as how we dress ourselves. Personal items such as photos in fabulous frames or a colourful ceramic piece that was bought on a memorable holiday make your room unique. These objects are often focal and conversational points so it is important chose them with care.

An organised space is a calm space, a place to think and relax in. Everything should have a place and clever storage especially in a small space is key. Whether it is a dressing room, a library, a toy box or a broom cupboard it needs to be well designed using a good joiner or if the cupboards/shelves or doors are off the shelf they can easily be customised and made to look individual with colour and detail. Accessibility and functionality are essential. Our goal is to only see the things we actively want on display and hide the rest!

Lighting is an incredibly powerful influencer in any space. The challenge is always that the outside light is ever-changing and so the inside light must reflect this. Flexible schemes work well where there is a choice of lighting media and in any one room so the light can be as bright or as dim as needed. In a modern room where there are ceiling lights they should be on a dimmer and other lighting such as table or floor lamps can be mixed in to use together or independently. There is such a great range of pendent lighting available now and we can help navigate the choice. My absolute favourite lighting for atmosphere is candle light which is beautifully flattering and also easily imitated with the effective battery look alike candles.
